Sell Your House Faster - Tips for Photographing Your Home

1/21/2016

Photos used when selling your home are crucial to a good sell, especially as more and more homes are viewed via real estate websites. The first photo on a listing may be why a buyer asks for a showing. Follow these simple steps to create the best photos of your house.

Morning Photos

Photograph your home on a sunny morning to take advantage of the natural light. Open the curtains and turn on the lights. Avoid using the camera’s flash because it causes harsh shadows and distorts colors.

Critique Photos

Take a test photo of a room in your home. Now stop and really look at it. Does the angle make the room look smaller? Can you hide electrical cords or remove clutter? It’s never a band idea to be picky.

Get Down

It may sound strange, but rooms appear larger when photographed at a lower angle. Squat down for the best view; it accentuates floor details and adds interest to the photo by highlighting interior decor.

Attention to Detail

Include a few close-ups of unique home details. For example, older homes may have beautiful molding. Take a photo of an interesting nook or tile pattern to make your home stand out.

Add Props

Invest in a few brightly colored vases of flowers for tables, mantles, or dressers. The color infusion will emphasize the beauty of a room. Adding potted plants to outdoor spaces can dress up a dull driveway or porch, too.
